About Feughside

Feughside is surrounded by the stunning scenery of Royal Deeside and proves an excellent base for either active or relaxing holidays. The distinctive hill of Clachnaben dominates the skyline to the south.

Many lovely walks are on the doorstep – including the marked forestry trails at the Shooting Greens. A small trout loch, the rivers Dee and Feugh are a delight for the fishermen. Golfers of all standards will find several fine courses nearby. Mountain biking, horse riding and a variety of water sports are also available.

Young children will be well entertained at the Glen & the Den, a good place to go on a wet day in Lower Deeside, the sweet factory in Ballater or climb aboard Alford’s narrow gauge railway.

All ages will enjoy the trains at Crathes, the Grampian Transport Museum based in Alford and Ballater’s Old Royal Railway Station recreating Victorian times. There are castles to view at Crathes, Drum, Balmoral and Braemar.

Adults have the chance of a dram and a nosing during a visit to Royal Lochnagar Distillery, Balmoral or at Fettercairn Distillery – both only a short drive away.

The nearest towns, Banchory and Aboyne, both have swimming pools and leisure centres as well as golf, tennis, bowls and putting. They will also cater for all your shopping needs. Films are shown regularly at Aboyne – children’s matinees as well as fairly new releases for adults.

The coast is only half an hour away by car at Stonehaven or Aberdeen, with beaches, larger swimming pools and leisure arcades. Aberdeen also has the famous Codona’s fun fair, ten-pin bowling, ice rink, Maritime Museum, cinemas and city shopping.
